NEWBURYPORT CELEBRATES PRESERVATION WEEK MAY 13-18, 2008
The Newburyport Preservation Trust proudly announces the second annual celebration of Preservation Week, May 13-18, 2008. This week long celebration of Newburyport’s historic treasures will offer events for the entire family. From an architectural tour of Newburyport’s first local historic district to lectures on old house restoration and a family- friendly archeological dig, Preservation Week offers a unique opportunity to explore local historic and preservation topics.

Dirt Detectives
Families become archaeologists as they excavate a mock pit with actual tools of the trade and process reproduction artifacts in a field lab. The Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm (1683) will be open for a peek at the Boardman parlor, where many of the artifacts from actual farm digs are on display. Co-sponsored by Historic New England. Newburyport: A Measure of Change
Think that Newburyport always looked this good? Come see a short documentary film made during the height of the fight to save the historic buildings of downtown Newburyport and appreciate how the efforts of a few to save our downtown grew into a movement to preserve the homes throughout the City. The 2nd Annual Newburyport Preservation Trust “Preservation Awards†will also be given at this event. Free to Public
